David G. Baenen, 57, died Monday, September 3, 2018, following a brief illness.  He was born October 26, 1960, in New Franken, to Merlin and Fatima (Traverso) Baenen. 

David was  a graduate of Premontre High School, Class of 1979.  In 1980, he joined the U. S. Army and was stationed in Fort Hood, Texas as a radar technician.  Following his time in the service, he served his electrician apprenticeship at Baenen Electric working for his father.  He later started his own business, The Electric Company.  On November 15, 1986, David married Debbie Steiner at St. Peter’s Catholic Church in Forestville by Father Steve Scherer.  David loved the outdoors and going deer hunting. One of his passions in life was stock car racing and he raced from 1998 to 2014.

David is survived by his children, Dustin Baenen (life partner Rhiannon LaFortune), Logan Baenen, Brandy Baenen (special friend Andrew Mineau); his dog, “Damka-The Dragon Slayer”; his parents, Merlin and Fatima Baenen; his sisters and a brother, Gloria Baenen, John (Ann) Baenen, Kristine (Steve) Berken; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. 

He was preceded in death by his paternal and maternal grandparents.

Friends may call at Proko-Wall Funeral Home, 1630 E. Mason Street, on Sunday from 12:00 to 3:00 p.m.  Friends may also call at Holy Cross Catholic Church, 3009 Bay Settlement Road, on Monday from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m.  The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. Monday, at the church, with Abbot Gary Neville, O.
