Barry J. Christensen, Sr.

Born in Green Bay, Wisconsin on Apr 05, 1939

Died on Aug 28, 2018 and resided in Green Bay, Wisconsin

Barry J. Christensen, Sr., 79, of Green Bay, passed peacefully on Tuesday, August 28, 2018.  He was born April 5, 1939, in Green Bay, to the late Arthur and Florence Christensen.  He married Diane Cayer on December 26, 1964.

Barry served his country in the U.S. Air Force from 1958-1960.  He went to Hollywood from 1965-1970 and was a contract player for Screen Gems appearing in a variety of roles in theatre and television series.  From 1970 to 1993 he worked in investments and industrial sales. He lived in Las Vegas for 12 years and performed in many local theatre presentations including South Pacific and Oklahoma.  He returned to Green Bay to care for his mother and then chose to stay, living in the family home.

He enjoyed singing, playing the accordion, being with his dogs, going to the Cup of Joy, attending accordion club meetings, going to church, attending bible studies and breakfasts with his brothers and sisters in Christ, shooting, fishing, chatting on the phone with everyone, spending time with family and friends, enjoying good food, and collecting items to share and give to others.   He especially loved giving and getting bear hugs. He always had his arms open for all who wanted to spend any time with him. Many remember calling him and saying no matter what he was going through, he would listen, give them great advice, and a positive message. He was a prayer warrior.

He is survived by his former wife, Diane Cayer; his son B.J. (Julie) Christensen II; daughter Becky (Dana) Myers; his grandchildren, Anthony, Junuh, Kainen, Natalie, Parker, Tyler, Trevyn, and Tristan; his sister, Donna Christensen; sister-in-law, Barb Christensen, many wonderful nieces, nephews, and so many special family friends and care-givers.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Arthur and Florence Christensen;  his brother, Arthur Christensen; his sisters, Fern Lancor, Elaine (Milton) Reimer, and Gloria (Edward) Parmentier.
