Geraldine J. Herlache, 92, affectionately known as “Jelly Bean,” took the hand of the Lord and walked through the garden to heaven on Thursday, July 19, 2018. She was born in Green Bay on April 7, 1926, to the late Helmuth and Clara (Bahr) Gehm. On March 30, 1946, she married Leon Herlache at St. Willebrord Catholic Church, he preceded her in death on September 16, 2002. Growing up in the modest means of her time, she developed her creativity. She always maintained her positivity and had a wonderful zest for life. Jelly Bean was a fashionista and dressed in elegance for every occasion. She enjoyed listening to Frank Sinatra and other Big Band music. Geraldine took great pride in her family and loved to spend time with them.

She is survived by her six children: Susan (William) Hoberg, Hobart, and their children, Melissa (Stephen) Coffey, Nicole Eby; Judy (Peter) Gulbrandsen, Eagle, WI, and their children, Signe (Brett) Redner, Eric (Kathy) Gulbrandsen, and Kristjan (Yuan) Gulbrandsen; Christine (and her late husband Lowell) Klessig, Amherst Junction, and their children, Lance (Christine) and Lukas; Kathleen (Clarence) Grusczynski, Seymour, and their children, Kyle and Kevin (Jessica); Mark (Shelley) Herlache, Green Bay, and their children, Justin, Ryan (Jenny), Luke (Ann), and Jolene (John) Buchman; Debra (David) Galaty, Portland, OR, and their children, Kassel, Laurel (Max), and Elise (Joachim) Alpen; 17 great-grandchildren, and two more are on the way; sister, Betty (Cecil) Miller, Akron, OH; along with many nieces and nephews.

Geraldine was preceded in death by a grandson, Jason Grusczynski; granddaughter, Mara Galaty; brother, Jack (Shirley) Gehm; sisters and brothers-in-law, Eunice (Frank) Manders, Ward (Betty) Herlache, and Dale (Donna) Herlache.

Friends may gather at St. Willebrord Catholic Church, 209 S. Adams St, from 12:30 p.m. until the Funeral Mass at 2:00 p.m. all at the Church. Rev. Andrew Cribben, O. Praem will preside. Entombment will be in the Shrine of the Good Shepherd Mausoleum. Online condolences may be sent to the family at www.prokowall.com.

In lieu of other expressions of sympathy, a memorial fund has been established in Geraldine’s name.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to the entire staff at Heartland Hospice, Emerald Bay, and especially Kristin, for all their exceptional care for Jelly Bean and her family.
