Richard J. Piontek, 90, a lifelong Green Bay resident, passed away Saturday evening, May 26, 2018.  He was born March 19, 1928, to Lawrence and Elizabeth Piontek.  Richard served in the U.S. Airforce and was a member of the Bellevue VFW. He was known as “The Big Kahuna” during his many years with the Chicago Northwestern Railroad, a job he truly enjoyed.  Richard was a longtime member of St. Philip Catholic Church where he served as an usher. 

He is survived by his wife, Patricia Piontek; four children, Kevin Piontek, Todd (Gayle) Piontek, Mari (Pablo) Gallardo and Kim (Mark) Holmes; four grandchildren, Jacob, Emily, Katie and Kristie; nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers and sisters. 

Visitation will be at Proko-Wall Funeral Home, 1630 E. Mason St.  from 10:00 to 11:30 a.m. Thursday.  A Funeral Service will be held at 11:30 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home with Sr. Helen Keyzer officiating.  Entombment will be in Allouez Chapel Mausoleum. 

The Piontek family extends a special thank you to all staff at Bishop’s Court, especially DeDe, Debbie, Tina and Heidi, and Heartland Hospice for their patience and caring ways.  Thank you also to Sr. Helen Keyzer and Father Bill Hoffman for their support.  Thank you to Dr. Fagre and his nurse Joyce for their years of care. 

Lord, please continue to guide our family as we live on earth, and give us strength as we seek eternal life at your side.  Amen
