William Hasseler

William A. “Bill” Hasseler, 88, of Green Bay went to his heavenly home on Sunday, May 6, 2018.  He was born October 17, 1929 in Wisconsin Rapids, to William H. and Ruth (Danielson) Hasseler. 

On December 1, 1943, Bill moved to Green Bay and attended Green Bay East High School.  In 1948, Bill joined the United States Army and served in the 7th Engineers Division.  From September of 1950 to June of 1951 he fought in the Korean War and was honorably discharged in 1952.  Bill went on to graduate from Badger Business School in 1953.   On September 5, 1953 Bill married Kay Lautenslager at Grace Lutheran Church.  He worked for 44 years as an office manager and bookkeeper for J.C. Basten Construction, until his retirement in 1998.  Bill was a member of the Independent Order of Odd Fellows and was their Past Grand Master for the State of Wisconsin.  Bill was active in dart ball league for Grace Lutheran and West Side Moravian Church for over 50 years.  He also worked in program sales and distribution for the Green Bay Packers for many years.  He loved reading, building puzzles, playing Cribbage and Sheepshead. Most importantly Bill loved his family; he will be remembered as a devoted and loving husband, father, and living for his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Bill is survived by his children; Bobbie Bierhals, Doug (Anita) Hasseler, Sue (Bob) Byers, Diane (Russ) Bertrand; his beloved grandchildren, Bobbi (David) Barclay, Matthew (Joy) Hasseler, Christopher (Racheal) Hasseler, Bradley (Heather) Hasseler, Darrin Byers; his nine great-grandchildren, Tommy, Katie, Libby, Will, Henry, Elise, Caleb Owen, and Alex; his sister, Rosalie Coel; his brothers, Herman Hasseler, Daniel (Sally) Hasseler; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his wife Kay; his parents; his sister, Lillian (Antonio) Cruz-Uribe; sisters-in-law, Donna Hasseler, Pat Hasseler; brother-in-law, Ken (Sharon) Lautenslager.

Friends may call at Proko-Wall Funeral Home, 1630 E. Mason Street, on Friday from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m.  An Odd Fellows Memorial Service will be held at 7:30 p.m. Friday.  Friends may also call at Atonement Lutheran Church, 2132 Deckner Avenue, on Saturday from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m.  The Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, at the church, with the Rev. In lieu of flowers a memorial has been established in Bill’s name to benefit Atonement Lutheran Church and Compassus Hospice.
