Died on Apr 11, 2018 and resided in Green Bay, WI

Laverne D. Desotell, 89, Green Bay, died Wednesday, April 11, 2018, at a local hospital.  The daughter of the late Glen and Anne (DeMeuse) Brubeck was born September 9, 1928.  Laverne married Hilary J. Desotell September 12, 1981, at St. Francis Xavier Cathedral.  They enjoyed wintering in Gulf Shores, Alabama and touring the United States by bus.

Laverne had been employed for many years by Gold Bond Ice Cream.  Her daughters remember her as a strong independent woman.  She was a longtime member of Cathedral Parish and a devout Catholic.  Her joy of being a mother to her daughters only increased when she became a grandmother and great-grandmother.   Laverne cherished the time she was able to spend with family.  She loved her dog Pepsi, enjoyed going for walks in the neighborhood, jogging the Bellin Run, and doing crossword puzzles.  Her witty sense of humor will be missed.

She is survived by two daughters, Cheri (Joe) Hoida, Green Bay; Susan (Eric) Schmitz, Green Bay; and a step-daughter, Sandra Paye, Schofield; two grandchildren, Jason (Kristine Beitland) Hoida, Oslo, Norway and Jessica Hoida, Minneapolis, MN; three great-grandchildren, Hanna, Ella and Joey; three step-grandchildren, Steven, Scott and Brett Paye; a sister, Patsy (Chuck) Meid; a special niece, Jennifer Meid; and two nephews, John and Tom Nick.

She was preceded in death by her husband Hilary on April 17, 2011; a son-in-law, Peter Fink; a step-son-in-law, Butch Paye; a sister, Bette Nick and her daughters’ father, Art McNamara.

Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. to noon Monday at St. Francis Xavier Cathedral, 140 S. Monroe Ave.  The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at noon Monday at the Cathedral.  Entombment will be in Allouez Chapel Mausoleum.

The family extends a special thank you to the staff at Woodside Assisted Living where Laverne made her home this past year.  Your wonderful care allowed us to spend quality time with our mother prior to her passing.  Thank you also to the doctors and nurses at Aurora Baycare Med/Surg Unit and everyone at Aurora Hospice for your compassionate care during Laverne’s final days.
