Died on Apr 02, 2018 and resided in Green Bay, Wisconsin

Donald F. Stadler, 76, Green Bay resident, died April 2, 2018, at a local hospital following a brief illness. He was born May 23, 1941, in Wausau, Wisconsin to the late John and Viola (Koehler) Stadler. Don was raised in Freedom, Wisconsin and graduated from Freedom High School. He helped with the family milk route throughout his high school years until he joined the US Marine Corps. After his honorable discharge. Don and Carol ran Stadler’s Pub and Liquor Store in Lakewood until Don pursued a career in the grocery business. He was employed both as a sales rep and a buyer for Hunt Wesson Foods, United Foods-Super Value and lastly Roundy’s. Following retirement from the grocery business, Don and his companion Sally, moved to Harshaw and owned and operated American Glass and Screen in Rhinelander. After Sally passed away Don moved to Green Bay where he resided with two of his sons.

 Don was an active member of the Rhinelander Lions Club working every year on the annual ice fishing derby. He loved the outdoors and enjoyed fishing, hunting and the quietness of the woods. Don “Huggy” was also known to be a “Mr. Fix It” when it came to repairing things, especially anything mechanical or car related.

 Don is survived by three sons: Brian Stadler; Todd (Renata) Stadler, Green Bay and Jon Stadler, Green Bay; one granddaughter, Julie Viola Stadler; two sisters, Jayne (Jerry) Balgeman, IL and Ellen (Doug) Buelow, Seymour; his brother, Gerald (Bonnie) Stadler, Reedsburg; nieces and nephews and the mother of Don’s children, Carol Schroven, Dyckesville.

 He was preceded in death by an infant brother, Charles and his companion, Sally Thompson.

 Don’s family will receive friends and relatives to celebrate his life, on Saturday, April 21, 2018, at the Woods Country Club, 530 Erie Rd. from 1:00- 6:00 pm. Online condolences may be sent to Don's family at www.prokowall.com. In lieu of floral expressions a memorial fund has been established in Don’s name. Per Don’s request, his remains will be buried in St. Nicholas Cemetery, Freedom and the Union Grove Cemetery in Cassian.
