Andrew “Pat” Smith, 84, Green Bay resident, died Saturday morning, March 3, 2018, after a battle with cancer. Pat was born September 3, 1933, in Grand Rapids, Mich., to the late Andrew and Margaret (McGavin) Smith. He attended Catholic Central High School in Grand Rapids, Mich., graduating in 1951 and later got his Bachelor’s degree from UW-Green Bay.  Pat married Evelyn Smith on May 25, 1957, in Grand Rapids.

 Pat proudly served in the US Army, stationed in Germany, from 1951 until his honorable discharge in1954.  He was a true sports fan and especially loved playing fast-pitch softball – a career spanning across seven decades.  One of the highlights of his career was co-hosting the local bowling show, Strikes and Spares for Cash on WLRE-TV in the 1980s.  Pat and his long-time partner, Jelaine Martin enjoyed their numerous travels with close friends and family.  He had quick-witted humor, always with a smile, and loved family gatherings.

 Pat is survived by Jelaine Martin, and his eight children: Sandy Smith, Pat Smith, Jr., Mike (Alice) Smith, Brian (Sue) Smith, Kevin (Denise) Smith, Sean Smith (Anne Miller), Diane Smith (Jon Gilson), all of Green Bay; Ryan (Amber) Smith, McFarland, WI; 14 grandchildren, 9 great-grandchildren, and many other relatives. Pat is also survived by his sister, Mary Beth Walen, who was a major physical and spiritual help to Pat and his family throughout his illness, along with sister-in-law Pat Smith and brother-in-law, Dan Pupel.

 He was preceded in death by one granddaughter, Alexandra; his brother, Ned Smith; one sister, Sheila Pupel; one brother-in law, Raymond Walen and his former wife, Evelyn Smith.

 Friends may call at the Proko-Wall Funeral Home & Crematory, 1630 E. Mason St., from 4:00-8:00 pm Wednesday, March 7, with a prayer service at 7pm. Visitation will continue on Thursday at St. Bernard Catholic Church, 2040 Hillside Ln, after 9:30 am until time of Mass. Funeral Mass 11:00 am Thursday at the church with Rev. Mark VanderSteeg officiating. Burial in the Woodlawn Cemetery. Online condolences may be sent to the Smith family at www.prokowall.com. In lieu of floral expressions a memorial fund has been established in Pat’s name.
