David L. "Big Dave" Patterson, 68, Luxemburg, passed away unexpectedly on Monday, January 22, 2018. He was born in De Pere on June 1, 1949, to James and Mavis (Hintz) Patterson. Dave graduated from West De Pere High School. On May 19, 1972, he married the former Mary Holl in Green Bay. Dave worked at the U.S. Paper Mill in De Pere for 45 years until his retirement in 2015. Every morning, Dave took pride in going out to take care of all the animals on their hobby farm, and then he would greet all the neighbors walking through by their first names. Dave was a proud member of the American Legion Post 262 in Luxemburg. But most of all, Dave enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.

Dave is survived by his wife of 45 years, Mary; son, James (Paula) Patterson, De Pere, daughter, Amy (Cisco) Rosales, Bellevue; four grandchildren, Jadon and Elijah Patterson, and Gabriel and Adele Rosales; his dad, James Patterson; one sister, Bev (Gary) Coenen, Suamico; brothers and sisters-in-law, Virginia (Robert) Wendlendt, Michael (Susan) Holl, Teresa (Richard) Johnson, Susan (Bruce) Tilkens, David (Laurie) Holl, and John (Cathy) Holl. Dave is further survived by aunts and uncles, Don Patterson, Jerry Patterson, Joan Giles, Gayle Michaels, and Essie Collins; along with many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Mavis; aunt, Rita Foxgrover; uncle, John Patterson; parents-in-law, Gerald and Evelyn Holl; a special sister-in-law, Kathleen Holl; brother-in-law, Peter Holl; nephew, Jeffrey Holl; and a special friend, Mikal Sullivan, who was killed in action in Vietnam.
