Edith Sabo, 95, Green Bay resident, left this earth for her heavenly home on Sunday, January 7, 2018. She was born October 10, 1922, in the Town of Eaton, the youngest of seven children, to the late Christian and Mamie (Smith) Sabo. Edith was a graduate of Green Bay East High School and St. Norbert College. She taught in the Allouez and Green Bay schools for many years and was the first principal at Webster School while also teaching first grade. Edith was a lifelong member of Trinity Lutheran Congregation and was always so very grateful to the fine pastors, teachers and fellow members who so graciously contributed so much to her education and growth in her Christian faith. She was proud of her beautiful yard and gardens and was honored by the Gardeners Club of Green Bay with the “Silver Trowel” award for residential landscape.

 Edith is survived by her nieces and nephews: Dale (Diane) Sabo; Virginia (Gary) Vincent; Sue Bosse and Robert (Bonnie) Sabo; great nieces and nephews: Donald (Mary Lynn) Kane; Larry (Lori) Kane; Stephanie Sabo, Heather (Dave) Nagrocki, Bridget (Kelly) Weger and Erik Sabo, whose kindness and help were so very meaningful to her, “Thank you and God bless you Erik”; Jodi (Patrick) Vorwald; Amy Bosse and Kristen Bosse; Ashley (Andy) Brantmeier; Whitney (Nick) Herman, many great, great nieces and nephews as well as her dear friend and neighbor, Larry Jacobson.

 She was preceded in death by three brothers: Leslie, Elmer and Irwin “Bud” (Frances) Sabo; three sisters: Gladys (Arthur) Gutzman; Helen (Rollie) Stone and Edna Sabo; a niece, Lois (Kane) McLeod, as well as many aunts, uncles and cousins.

 Friends may call at the Proko-Wall Funeral Home, 1630 E. Mason St. after 10:00 am on Wednesday, January 10, until time of service. Funeral service 11:00 am Wednesday at the funeral home with Rev. Rachel Knoke officiating. Burial in the Woodlawn Cemetery. Online condolences may be sent to the Sabo family at www.prokowall.com. In lieu of floral expressions a memorial fund has been established in her name. Should anyone wish to be involved in a gesture of her memory; plant a flower, a shrub or a tree. Edith was an avid gardener and truly loved the beauty of the outdoors.

 Edith’s family would like to extend their sincere gratitude to the nurses and staff of Heartland Hospice, especially Krystal, Chaplain John Vincent and the staff at Bellevue Retirement Community. Their care and concern for Edith will always be remembered.
