Carol Ledvina

Born in Town of Carlton, Wisconsin on Jul 12, 1937

Died on Aug 31, 2017 and resided in Green Bay, Wisconsin

Carol K. Ledvina, 80, died peacefully on Thursday, August 31, 2017, after a long battle with cancer.  Born in the Township of Carlton in Kewaunee County, WI on July 12, 1937 to the late Charles and Rose (Smidel) Meyer, she graduated from Kewaunee High School in 1955, and went on to work at Union State Bank.  In 1957, she met the love of her life, Robert (Bob) Ledvina, and they married on August 29, 1959 at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Norman, WI.  They remained in the area until September 1967, at which time they moved to Green Bay, and settled into what would become their lifetime home of 50 years.

Carol spent most of her early married years raising their four children until 1976, when she began working in the Green Bay School District Food Service Program, retiring in 2000.  Carol enjoyed learning, and over the years took several Accounting courses at NWTC and learning in retirement courses at UWGB.  She volunteered in many different areas at St. Bernard Parish and enjoyed helping others in any way she could.  Carol enjoyed socializing, and always looked forward to her weekly golf game, and weekly breakfast and lunch with her lady friends.   She also made it a priority to keep in touch with extended family – as family was very important to her.

Carol was a big sports fan, and together with Bob enjoyed many Packer, Badger, UWGB and Preble basketball games.  Carol and Bob hosted many family gatherings and parties over the years, and made several trips overseas - in particular, visiting the area of their ancestry, the Czech Republic.  This led to many years of researching and documenting all four branches of the family genealogy - a priceless gift to the family.

She is survived by her loving husband of 58 years, Robert Ledvina; her four children: Peggy Ledvina, Bethesda, MD; Mike (Ann) Ledvina, Green Bay, WI; Mark (Sara) Ledvina, Green Bay, WI; and Laurie (Tim) Olson, Green Bay, WI; and her seven grandchildren:  Tony, Brett and Ben Ledvina; Alyssa (Jake) Reimer and Tyler Ledvina; and Nick and Alex Olson; one sister:  Lorraine Easley, Two Rivers, WI; and one brother and sister-in-law:  Clayton and MaryAnn Meyer, Kewaunee, WI; as well as many other cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Rose Meyer; a sister and brother-in-law, Janet and Don Parkos; one brother-in-law, Bob Easley; and one grandchild, Matthew Ledvina, among other relatives.

Parish visitation will also be held from 9 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. on Tuesday, September 5th, followed by a Mass of Christian burial at 12:00 noon at St. Bernard Catholic Church, 2040 Hillside Lane, Green Bay, WI with Rev. Mark Vander Steeg officiating. Entombment will be in Allouez Catholic Mausoleum. Proko-Wall Funeral Home is assisting the family.  To send online condolences, please go to:  www.prokowall.com.
