Charmaine Kathleen (Pillath) Ehlen, 85, passed away August 30, 2017, peacefully in her sleep at home. Charmaine was born December 25, 1931, at home in Lena, WI, to the late Emil and Edna (Oshefsky) Pillath. She attended Lena schools, graduating in 1949 from Lena High School where she was very active in forensics, drama, band and was appointed to Badger Girls State. After graduating, she moved to Green Bay and worked for the Belson Co. as billing clerk. While in Green Bay Charmaine was active with the GB Recreation Dept. and also GB Community Theatre.

On January 24, 1953, she married Ronald F. Ehlen at St. Francis Xavier Cathedral and two days later drove to Edwards AFB, CA, as Ron was finishing his enlistment. While there, Charmaine worked for Civil Service at Rocket Branch and later the main base. There, she was privileged to know some of the test pilots including Chuck Yeager. While in CA, weekends were for sightseeing. Charmaine and Ron visited Sequoia Nat. Park, Yosemite Nat. Park, San Juan Capistrano, Hearst Castle, Death Valley, San Francisco’s Fisherman’s Wharf, San Diego Zoo, Lake Tahoe and went down to Mexico. In November 1955, they returned to Green Bay with their first child, three and half wk. old Michael. Ron found employment at Ft. Howard Paper Co. and four other children followed.

Charmaine was a great cook which family and friends can attest to. She also preserved many jars of fruits and vegetables. Having four sons, she devoted eight years to the cub scouts as den mother, taught religious education for four years and chaperoned Girl Scout outings for her daughter. Charmaine was a member of the GB Woman’s Bowling Assn, Brown Co. Woman’s Golf League and the Brown Co. Homemakers. She worked eight years doing food demonstrations in local stores. Charmaine and her husband Ron did extensive traveling to Europe, Canada, Alaska, Hawaii, throughout the United States and also enjoyed cruises together. She enjoyed a very blessed life.

Charmaine is survived by her husband of 64 years, Ron; their five children, Michael, Green Bay, Patrick (Beth), De Pere, Jim (Leslie) New Franken, Jeffrey, Sobieski, and Teresa (Tim) Oettinger, Green Bay; seven grandchildren, Jesse (Amy) Ehlen, Alicia Ehlen, Adrienne Ehlen, Joni Rae Ehlen, Leonard Fields, Erin Oettinger and Abby Oettinger; four great grandchildren, Emery Rabe, Adrielle and Shayla Schaut and Elora Ehlen; step-grandchildren, La Vara, Mike, and Stephanie; sister, Carol Swim; and a sister-in-law, LeaAnn Pillath. She is further survived by many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Charmaine was preceded in death by her parents, a brother, Emil Pillath; a brother-in-law Gene Swim and a daughter-in-law, Rebecca (Lund) Ehlen.

Visitation will be held at Nativity of Our Lord Catholic Church, 2270 S. Oneida St., Friday, September 1, from 9:00 a.m. until the time of mass. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. at the church with Reverend Michael Ingold officiating. Entombment will be in the Shrine of the Good Shepherd Mausoleum.
