Dan "Big Daddy" Metzner

Born in Green Bay, Wisconsin on Jan 19, 1958

Died on Aug 26, 2017 and resided in Allouez, Wisconsin

Dan “Big Daddy” Metzner, 59, Green Bay, passed away Saturday, August 26, 2017, from heart failure while spending time at his happy place at the “Metzner Compound” in Crooked Lake.  He was born January 19, 1958, in Green Bay, son of the late Sylvester and Marian (Schmidt) Metzner. Dan graduated from Ashwaubenon High School in 1977, and married Judy Deterville on August 16, 1980 at Nativity of Our Lord Parish. Dan worked for the Village of Allouez for over 30 years in the street department, retiring in 2014.

Dan loved spending time and spoiling his grandkids (and he was good at it). He enjoyed fishing, hosting Christmas dinner, going on road trips and stopping at bars he was never at (was getting harder to do), going up north at Crooked Lake, watching Packer games at his favorite place to eat, Ziggey’s, and playing cards with his Wednesday morning crew at the Next Stop.

Dan will be deeply missed by his wife, Judy; son, Adam Metzner; daughter and son-in-law, Amy (Jared) Mathys; grandkids, Porter and Sierra Mathys; three brothers: Ron (Sue) Metzner, Syl (Patti) Metzner, and Jeff Metzner and his special friend Tammy Smith; three sisters: Colleen (John) Apps, Mary (Brian) Lambie, and Kathy Metzner and her special friend, Dennis Whiting; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law: Bonnie and Keith Yedica, Ann (John) Raven, Mary Deterville and special friend Kevin Beyer, Lori Deterville and special friend Randy VanPay, Bill (Cheryl) Deterville, Joe Deterville, Dan (Terry) Deterville, Allen Deterville, Lee Deterville; and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, Dan was preceded in death by his father-in-law and mother-in-law, LeRoy and Mary Jane Deterville.
