Dorothy L. Whipp, 92, Green Bay resident, died Thursday, April 13, 2017, at the Jack and Engrid Meng Residence. She was born March 29, 1925 in the Town of Bellevue to the late William and Frances (Zellner) Strebel. Dorothy married Eddie Whipp on June 17, 1944, at St. Philip the Apostle Catholic Church. He preceded her in death on August 26, 2007. She and Eddie owned and operated Eddie Whipp’s Dining Hall in Poland, WI until their retirement in 1987. Dorothy enjoyed league bowling and league golfing and in 1985 she got a hole in one at Woodside Golf Course. She and Eddie also enjoyed traveling, from Florida to Hawaii and Vegas in between.
She is survived by five children: Gerald (Sandee) Whipp, Bellevue; Glenn (Christine) Whipp, Bellevue; Nancy Whipp-Peterson and Earl Peterson, Denmark; Mark (Louise) Whipp, Denmark and Dale (Roberta) Whipp, Green Bay. 14 grandchildren: Kristie (Mark) Mayer; Lori (Stu) Landy; Wendy (Ben) Chossek; Melissa (Aaron) Schepp; Jennifer (Christian) Harvey; Tara (Sean) Joyce-Whipp; Katie (Michael) Boice; Amanda (Kevin) DeGreef; Sarah (Curt) Klish; Beckie Whipp and Bridget (Dominic) Peters; Casey, Maxwell and Marcus Whipp; 19 great grandchildren; her brother, Dr. Ron (Joan) Strebel, Neenah and her sister, Marilyn Court, Appleton; nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her brother, Fr. Milton Strebel and her sister, Lucille (Russell) Glaser; brothers-in-law: Harvey Pelishek, Jim Court, Chester Whipp, Frank “Duke” Whipp and Ray Whipp, Jack Mincheski; sisters-in-law, Lorraine (Harry) Butrymowicz and Esther (Milo) Kerin.
Friends may call at the Proko-Wall Funeral Home, 1630 E. Mason St. from 4:00-8:00 pm Monday. Parish wake service 7:30 pm Monday. Visitation will continue on Tuesday at Resurrection Catholic Church, 333 Hilltop, after 9:30 am until time of Mass. Funeral Mass 11:00 am Tuesday at the church with Bishop Robert Morneau officiating.
