Zita Heraly

Born in Town of Humboldt, Wisconsin on Mar 25, 1916

Died on Mar 11, 2017 and resided in Town of Humboldt, Wisconsin

Zita Marie Heraly, 100, Town of Humboldt, passed away peacefully, surrounded by her family, Saturday, March 11, 2017, two weeks shy of her 101st birthday. She was born March 25, 1916 in the Town of Humboldt to the late Joseph and Adele (Destiche) Heraly. Zita attended Green Bay East High School, proudly graduating in 1933. Following high school, she attended the University of Wisconsin at Oshkosh where she received her Bachelor’s Degree in Teaching. Zita’s 46-year teaching career began at Elm View School, in a one room school house, in the Town of De Pere. From De Pere, she went to the Denmark school district and finished her career in the Sheboygan school district retiring in 1981. Her passion for teaching came naturally because of her love for children and family. Zita had other passions as well, one being the Green Bay Packers, where she had a special relationship with Johnny Blood while attending high school. She also loved her trees and gardening and never missed an opportunity to travel…. anywhere. In 1961 she and another teacher drove to Alaska, where upon arrival to the state, found most of the roadways to be gravel. Zita’s family, even though small, was paramount in her life and for many years played various roles in their upbringing, education and development. Her faith was also very important to her and she practiced it in her daily life. Zita was a lifetime member of St. Kilian Parish in New Franken.

She is survived by a nephew, Norman Heraly, New Franken; great nieces: Michelle (J.R. Lacy) Spitzer; Tammy Jo Heraly and Dawn Heraly; six great great nephews; one great great niece as well as close family friend, Terri Champeau and Jessica (Norbert) Milwuet.

She was preceded in death by her brother, Harry (Dorothy) Heraly.
