Norbert E. Skarvan, 90, Green Bay, passed away February 25, 2017, at a local hospital. He was born May 10, 1926, in the Town of Norman in Kewaunee County to Wencil and Theresa (Wettering) Skarvan. On September 8, 1951, he married Janice Rockwell. The couple shared almost 50 years of marriage before Janice preceded him in death July 8, 2001.
Norbert was a truck driver since he was old enough to drive, even during his service to his country in the U.S. Army during World War II. He reluctantly retired in 1991, loving his job until his last day. He enjoyed tinkering with motors, listening to polka music, and times spent at White Potato Lake with family and friends.
He will be sadly missed by his children, Cheryl (Michael) Eggert, Green Bay; and Todd (Robin) Skarvan, Ocean Springs, MS; four grandchildren, Jason (Dawn) Eggert, Suamico; Jennifer (Joseph) Collins, Bellevue; Joshua Skarvan, Green Bay; and Matt (Liz) Skarvan, Green Bay; four great-grandchildren, Ethan, Alyssa, Joey, and Jonathan; two brothers, Virgil Skarvan, Kewaunee; and David Skarvan, Two Rivers; a sister-in-law, Carol Oswald, Beloit; nieces and nephews; other relatives and many friends.
In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Marie Kunesh and two brothers, Eugene and Kenneth Skarvan.
Visitation will be from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. Friday at the Proko-Wall Funeral Home, 1630 E. Mason St. A Funeral Service will be held at 7:00 p.m. Friday at the funeral home with Sr. Helen Keyzer officiating. Military Honors will conclude the funeral services on Friday evening. Entombment will be in Allouez Chapel Mausoleum.
The Skarvan family extends a special thank you for the wonderful care Norbert received at the McCormick Home and Wydemere, the places Norbert has called home for the past several years.
