Leland E. “Lefty” Neumann, 94, of Green Bay, passed away on February 1, 2014 at his home. He was born in Lessor, WI to the late Henry and Clara (Rudie) Neumann. Lee married the former Florence Bentley on September 4, 1943, at First Lutheran Church, Green Bay. He served in the United States Army in 1942. Lee was employed at Fairmont Dairy until his retirement in 1980. He enjoyed hunting and fishing while spending time at his cabin in Wausaukee. Lee was a left handed pitcher for the Navarino Rangers and was an avid horseshoe champion. One of his passions was gardening and tending to his orchard. Lee enjoyed attending his grandchildren’s sporting events and was a huge Cubs fan. Lee liked spending time in his woodworking shop and always made seasonal wine to share with family and friends. He was a member of Atonement Lutheran Church.
Survivors include his wife of seventy years, Florence Neumann; four daughters: Beverly Merritt, Ferrum, VA; Phyllis (Jeff) Reeves, Gillett; Karen Simcik and Paula Hunsader, both of Green Bay; eleven grandchildren; nine great grandchildren; four great great grandchildren; his brother, Kenny (Julie) Luniak, Green Bay; a sister, Carol (Carl) Aldinger, Appleton; two sisters-in-law, Florence Neuman, Milwaukee and Ruth Bentley, De Pere; special family members, Tom Simcik and Bryan Hunsader.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his brother Gordon Neuman and son-in-law Gary Merritt.
Friends may call at Atonement Lutheran Church 2132 Deckner Ave. after 10:00 am Tuesday until time of service. Funeral Service 11:00 am Tuesday at the church with Rev. Steve Apfel officiating. Burial in Union Cemetery, Lessor, WI. On-line condolences may be sent to the Neumann family at www.prokowall.com. In lieu of floral expressions a memorial fund has been established in Lee’s name.
