Corinne F. Dovekas, 84, fell asleep in Christ peacefully at home surrounded by loved ones including her parish priest. She was born on December 3, 1927 to the late George and Frances (Arbter) Sloan in Milwaukee. She was a devoted parishioner of St. Matthew Orthodox Church. She was an elementary and special education teacher in District #95 in Lake Zurich, IL.
Survivors include son, James; daughter, Joanie, and her partner, Lynn Nash; both of Green Bay; 2 sisters-in-law, Nickie Horton, Helen Passias; three nieces, Demetra (Tim) Zyrkowski, Christine (John) Meyer, Jennie Passias; nephew, George Passias and their families, all of Illinois; numerous cousins throughout Wisconsin; other relatives and friends; and beloved pets, Vegas and Phoenix.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Dean; sister, Gloria Miller; in-laws, James (Jane) Dovekas; brothers-in-law, Nick Dovekas, Bill Passias.
Friends and family may call Friday, February 3, from 4 to 9 p.m. at St. Matthew Orthodox Church, 1226 Redwood Drive, Green Bay, WI 54304. Funeral service at 6:30 p.m. with Fr. Maximus Cabey officiating. Burial service at 12:30 p.m. on Saturday, February 4, at Elmwood Cemetery, 2905 N. Thatcher Road, River Grove, IL.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established at St. Matthews Orthodox Church.
The family would like to thank the staff at Aurora BayCare Medical Center, Aurora VNA Hospice and all others who expressed care and concern in her last days.
