Clifford J. Georgia, 87,Green Bay, died early Thursday morning January 12, 2012, at his home. He was born September 24, 1924 in the town of Preble to the late Frank and Nellie (Boerschinger) Georgia. Cliff served in the U.S. Navy during WWII in the South Pacific from 1943 until his honorable discharge in 1946. Upon returning from service he married the former Verna Bosetski on October 19, 1946 in a double wedding with Norb and Therese Cisler, at SS Cyril & Methodius Catholic Church in the Town of Eaton. Cliff was employed for many years by Max Baier and Schleis Liquor until his retirement in 1987. He was a longtime season ticket holder for the Green Bay Packers and an avid fan. Cliff enjoyed playing bingo and playing cards as well as fishing and hunting. Cliff cherished his family and friends and all the time spent with them. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus and a lifetime member of SS Peter and Paul Parish.
Cliff is survived by his wife Verna and their three children: Lynn (Cliff) Holiday, Green Bay; Kathy (Dave) Shaw, Pulaski; Alan (Nicole) Georgia, Green Bay; five grandchildren: Tiffany, Tricia, Aaron (Kris), Amber and Chris; six great grandchildren: Alliah, Sofia, Alana, Lilas, Lucas and Olivia; his sister Betty Murphy, Green Bay and a sister-in-law, Justine Georgia, Green Bay; six sisters-in-law: Theresa Cisler, Marie Rutten, Martha Enderby, Genny (Wayne) Derbique, Rosemary Vandenbush and Carol Bosetski; three brothers-in-law: Peter (Esther) Bosetski, Richard (Anita) Bosetski and Francis (Kathy) Bosetski; many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by two sons, Mony and Carey Georgia; three brothers: Warren, Carmon and Gilbert Georgia; his step-father, William VanLanen; three step-sisters: Irene Kropp, Bernice Lindsley, and La Verne De Grand; two step-brothers, Donald and Wilbert VanLanen; his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Frank and Catherine Bosetski; sister-in-law, Esther Barrette; brother-in-law, Stanley Bosetski.
Friends may call at the Proko-Wall Funeral Home, 1630 E. Mason St., from 4:00-8:00 pm Monday. Parish wake service 7:00 pm Monday. Visitation will continue on Tuesday after 9:00 am at the funeral home until the cortege leaves for church. Funeral Mass 11:00 am Tuesday at SS Peter and Paul Catholic Church with Rev. In lieu of other expressions of sympathy a memorial fund has been established in Cliff’s name.
