Wayne F. “Dixie” Dixon, 71, Green Bay resident, died Wednesday December 30, 2009 at a local nursing home. He was born September 17, 1938 in Duluth, MN to the late Fred and Henrietta (Miller) Dixon. Wayne moved to Golden, CO and joined the U.S. Navy in 1955. While in the Navy he traveled to many places. Wayne served three tours of duty during the Viet Nam War on the USS Constellation. Following active duty Wayne joined the Naval Reserves and then the Army Reserves from which he retired. Wayne was employed by Proctor and Gamble until his retirement. He married the former Judith Miller on September 24, 1960 in Green Bay. Wayne is survived by his wife Judy and their four children: Patty (Bret) Peters, Green Bay; Debbie (Tom) Woolridge, Gates, NC; Michele (Brian) Swaer, Green Bay and Chris Dixon, Green Bay. Five grandchildren: Mike, Matt, Stephanie, Nicole and Haley. One brother, Stan Kaitfors, Duluth, MN and three sisters, Jackie McCullough, Toms River, NJ; Claudia Wison, Casper, WY and Sandy Kaitfors, Pueblo, CO, nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, Fred, who lost his life in the Battle of the Bulge and his mother, Henrietta. Friends may call at the Proko-Wall Funeral Home, 1630 E. Mason St. after 4 p.m. Tuesday until time of service. Funeral service 7 p.m. at the funeral home. Military honors to follow immediately after the service at the funeral home.
