James D. Matczak, 63, of Green Bay died Thursday, December 24, 2009 at an area hospital after a long struggle with diabetes. Jim was born June 1, 1946 in Green Bay, the son of the late Ted and Sophie (Zielinski) Matczak and was a 1964 graduate of Preble High School. He was a veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps from 1966 – 1968. Jim enjoyed growing flowers and baking. He was also very fond of music, especially old time polkas. Survivors include his brother Donald (special friend, Laura DeValk) Matczak, Green Bay, two sisters; Phyllis Matczak, Neenah and Patricia (Dennis) Darwin, New Glarus, WI, and two nephews; Jeff Darwin, Madison and Tim Darwin, LaCrosse. Friends may call at the Proko-Wall Funeral Home, 1630 E. Mason St. on Sunday, December 27, 2009 from 5 p.m. until the time of services. Funeral services will be 7 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home with Sr. Helen Keyzer officiating. Entombment in the Shrine of the Good Shepherd Mausoleum, Bay Settlement.
