Simons, Robert "Mr. Bob" Robert Simons 66, Green Bay, died peacefully Friday, October 31st at a local hospital surrounded by his family. He was born November 18th, 1941 to the late Roman and Luella (Van Nelsen) Simons. Bob married Mary Kay Steeno on May 1st 1965 and they enjoyed 42 years together. Bob was a paint salesman for both Mautz and Valspar. He then went to work for the Board of Education as a maintenance engineer and did so for 25 years. When he retired he was working at Morgan L. Martin School and was affectionately known as "Mr. Bob". Bob was the vice president of his union AFSCME local 3055. He served as trustee for the Labor Temple. He was an advocate for worker rights and truly enjoyed all the people he was associated with. Bob loved to cook and was most famous for his booyah. He enjoyed history, politics and telling stories. He shot trap and was the first person to shoot a 25 at the New Franken Sportsman Club. The only thing he may be more famous for was his sense of humor, which he kept right until the end. In addition to Bob´s wife, Mary Kay, he is survived by two loving daughters, Debbie Simons (Chip Hendry) and their daughter Samantha, Connie Tillmann (Jeff Tillmann) and their son Landon and daughter Morgan; two sisters Lynn Ducat (Dale Ducat) Appleton, Sally Hasseler (Dan Hasseler) Mesa, Arizona; two brothers Dick Simons (Sandy Simons) Green Bay, Gary Simons, Green Bay; his godmother Rita Simons, Green Bay, Aunt Flo Simons, Green Bay, Aunt Leona Simons, Milwaukee; The late Nancy Van Campenhout (Robert Van Campenhout), Green Bay; many nieces, nephews and cousins. Nothing meant more to Bob than his family, especially his 3 grandchildren. They lit up his face and he lit up theirs. Friends may call at the Proko-Wall Funeral Home, 1630 E. Mason St. on Wednesday, November 5, 2008 from 3 p.m. until the time of services. Memorial services will be 7 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home with Father Tim Shillcox, O.Praem officiating. The family would like to give a special thanks to Sister Helen, who gave great comfort for so many years to both Bob and Mary. We would also like to thank Doctors Neu and Lawton, the dialysis center staff and the ICU nurses staff of St. Vincent. Your kindness was greatly appreciated.
