Betty Jane Webster, 85, Green Bay, Kelly Lake, and Marco Island, passed into eternal peace on Tue. Sept. 29, 2009. She was born in Two Rivers May 7, 1924 to the late Clarence “Skinny” and Theresa (Strong) Olien. Betty graduated from Washington High School in 1942; then attended nursing school at Holy Family School of Nursing, Manitowoc. Betty married Leland A. Webster, Jan. 18, 1945 after traveling solo by train to Fresno, CA, where Leland was stationed. Returning from California, after World War II, they settled in Two Rivers where Leland joined Crescent Woolen Mills, his family business. In addition to raising seven children, Betty had many hobbies and interests which included sewing, golfing, playing Bridge and traveling. Betty was a very talented watercolor artist, and her homes were adorned with many a beautiful scene. In 1963 the children developed an interest in Alpine skiing. She and Leland purchased Browns Hill in Coleman, WI in 1964, developing it into a ski resort, named Mt. LeBett. Together with the family they ran all aspects of the operation until 1985. Leland and Betty then retired to Marco Island, FL and Kelly Lake, WI. Survivors include her children, Thomas J. Webster (Judith A. McNulty), Santa Cruz, CA; Mary E. Grovogel, Green Bay; James L. (Janice/Sally) Webster, Chicago; Kay Ann (Randy) Pendl, Rost Lake, WI; eight grandchildren: Mathew A. (Bernadette) Webster, Union City, CA; Amanda T. and Laura M. Grovogel, Green Bay; Michael A. Webster and Leland J. Webster, Chicago; Brandon L. Pendl, LaCrosse; Kara H. and Hannah K. Pendl, Austin, TX. She is also survived by brother-in-law William (Nancy) Webster, Two Rivers, WI; sisters-in-law, Lois Webster, Two Rivers; Bernice Olien, Two Rivers. She was preceded in death by her husband, Leland; three sons, Paul O. Webster, Donald “Archie” Webster, Richard A. Webster; her grandson, Adam L. Webster; three brothers, Frederick Olien, Lawrence Olien, and Dale Olien. Friends may call at Proko-Wall Funeral Home, 1630 E. Mason St. on Friday from 4 to 8 p.m. Visitation will continue on Saturday at St. Peter the Fisherman Church, 3210 Tannery Rd., Two Rivers, from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m.. Mass of Christian Burial 10:30 a.m. with Rev. William O’Brien officiating.
