William J. Wingert, 92, Green Bay resident, was called home on Wednesday afternoon, Sept. 23, 2009. He was born on January 22, 1917 in Sheboygan to the late John and Wanda (Manthei) Wingert. On Oct. 13, 1951 he married the former Jeannette Siebert at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Rankin. William was employed at Howard Immel Construction for 16 years as a carpenter, retiring in 1979. He enjoyed wood working, especially restoring antique furniture. William served an integral part in the construction of Christ the King Lutheran Church. He also enjoyed traveling with his family. Survivors include his wife of 57 years, Jeannette; daughters, Elaine (Michael) Dams, Waukesha, Carol Wingert, Green Bay; grandchildren, Kristy (Grant) Lagers, Malorie (special friend, Alex) Stanislawski; great-grandchildren, Brandon and Katelynn Lagers; step-grandsons, Mark and Terry Dams; step-great-grandson, Cody Dams; one sister Ethel Bothe; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, William was preceded in death by his sisters, Mildred, Elizabeth, Emma, Elsie, and Frida. Friends may call at the Proko-Wall Funeral Home, 1630 E. Mason St. on Friday from 4 to 8 p.m. Visitation will continue on Saturday after 10 a.m. at Christ the King Lutheran Church, 1700 Cardinal Lane until the time of service. Funeral service 11 a.m. Saturday with Rev. Leonard P. Buelow officiating. Entombment at Nicolet Memorial Gardens. Online condolences may be sent to the Wingert family at www.prokowall.com.
