Rose Van Pay, passed away, Friday, September 12, 2008. Born on August 2, 1923 in the Town of Eaton to Walter and Anna (Jurczykowski) Ostrenga. On November 17, 1945 she married Clarence Van Pay. They spent 62 very colorful years together as they raised their seven sons. Rose loved her God and she loved her "7 boys" (actually 8 with Joe Ostrenga) which practically guaranteed her a spot in heaven. The house was never without mischief or antics as they grew up. Her Polish heritage was evident in everything she did. She loved finding a great bargain and being together with family during the holidays. She enjoyed being up north, a good day at the casino and many times was the holder of a winning ticket. When she gave you "the look" you knew she meant business. The favorite Sunday chili and egg pie recipe at Easter will always be remembered, but never duplicated, as she never measured a thing. Rose is survived by her loving husband, Clarence; Sons, Norb (Linda), children Carrie (Jeff), Becky, Jessie (Lisa), Elizabeth and grandchildren, Cody and Sarah; Chester (Helen), children Brian and Stacy, grandchildren Zac and Destiny; Dave (Cindy), children David Lee (Cathy), Vicky (Brian), Dawn (Matt), grandchildren Allie, Cole, Derek, Dylan, Laney and Chelsie; Fran (Karen), children Lisa and Lori (J.R.); Steve (Cheri), children Keith and Troy, grandchildren Kendra and Justin; Mark (Sue), children Amanda and Kyle; R.M. (Annette), children Cassidy and Race. She is further survived by two brothers, Phil (Joyce) and Ray (Rita); four sisters and one brother-in-law, Agnes, Susie, Edwina (Dick) and Rita; three sisters-in-law and one brother-in-law, Myrtle, Beatrice and Audrey (Bernie) as well as many other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; three brothers, Edward, Mitchell and Chester; two sisters, Regina and Teresa; one sister-in-law, Alice; eight brothers-in-law, Bob, Calvin, Rueben, Mike, Bill, Archie, Joe and Tom. A Mother´s Journey The young mother asked her Shepard Is the way long? And he answered, Yes, the way is hard and you will be old before you reach the end But the end will be better than the beginning for you have given your sons Joy, wisdom, perseverance and you have shown them God. This is the mother I asked you to be, rest peacefully.
