Roger L. Krouse, 71, Bellevue, went Home to Heaven, September 9, 2009, at home after a five month battle with bladder cancer. Roger was born August 9, 1938, the son of Hilmer (deceased) and Lorraine (Boeldt) Krouse in Manitowoc, Wisconsin. He graduated from Lincoln High School in 1956 and enlisted in the Navy, serving three years, with stints on the USS Beale and USS Albany. While serving on the Albany, his commanding officer was John S. Mc Cain, Jr. He was extremely proud of his military service and had the opportunity to visit many places during his service years, including skiing in the Alps. Roger started working for Wisconsin Public Service Corporation in 1961 and retired in June 2000 as Regional Meter Electrician for the Eastern Division. He loved his job and enjoyed working with customers to solve problems he encountered during field work. He met his wife, Barb, through a mutual friend, Karen Wolter, at WPSC and they were married on April 22, 1995 at Our Savior Lutheran Church, Green Bay. When Roger’s children were younger, he was involved in Soap Box Derby racing with Jeff and Greg, he was a Boy Scout Cubmaster, was a coach for Little Hoopers, and loved camping and fishing with his children. Roger had two special hobbies, fishing and golf. He was lucky enough to have two holes-in-one in the last few years, both on No. 4, Garden Course at Wander Springs Golf Course. He enjoyed the competitiveness of golf with golf buddies, Galen and Bob. He is survived by his mother, Lorraine Krouse, Shady Lane, Manitowoc; wife, Barbara Krouse, Bellevue; children and their families, Jeffrey and Marcia, their children Jeffrey Jr., Becca and Amanda, Goosecreek, SC; Greg, Waukesha; Jodi and John Wachman, their children Alissa, Lexi and John Jr., Crystal Lake, IL; Rick and his children, Courtney and Cameron, Manitowoc; Randy and Jennifer, their children, Ethan and Rachel, Milwaukee; stepchildren and their families, Michele and Ed Murphy, their children Morghan and Jackson, Kildeer, IL; and Jeffrey and Jenna Hermes, their children, Taylor, Brenna and Braeden, Kimberly; sisters and their husbands, Sandy and Jim Rogness, Sturgeon Bay; and Barbara and Bill Wallace, Manitowoc. He is further survived by nieces, nephews and many cousins, and by special friends, Gary and Joanie, Pat and JoAnn, Jerry and LuAnne, and Sharon. Roger also had a special group of friends from his childhood in Manitowoc known as the Greenstreet Gang. Roger and Barb also made many wonderful, supportive “snowbird” friends at the Islander Beach Resort, Fort Walton Beach, Florida, the last four winters. The family will receive friends with the urn present from 3:30 to 7:30 P.M. on Friday, September 18, 2009, at Proko-Wall Funeral Home, 1630 E. Mason St., Green Bay. The family would like to give special thanks to Dr. Dougherty and his staff of Baycare Clinic, the staff of Aurora Baycare ER, Aurora Baycare Hospital 1st, 2nd and 3rd floor nurses, and to Drs. Patel and Davis and nurses at Vince Lombardi Cancer Clinic for all the care and concern shown to Roger and his family. Special thanks also to all the wonderful people at Unity Hospice who helped us make Roger’s last three weeks at home possible.
