Joan Ann “Joanne” Dworak, 70, Denmark resident, entered into God’s loving arms on Saturday afternoon, August 28, 2010 at a local hospital. She was born on May 15, 1940 in Champion, WI to the late Albert, Sr. and Mabel (Laurent) Van Den Plas. She attended Luxemburg High School. On Oct. 31, 1959, she married Lee Dworak at Robinsville Presbyterian Church in Champion. She worked for many years as a candymaker for Kaap’s Candy and then worked on the family’s dairy farm. She enjoyed making her homemade candy and cookies for her family during the holiday season and cooking big meals for family and friends. Joanne loved spending time with her nine grandchildren, never missing any of their birthdays, sporting events or activities. She also liked to go fishing, especially for perch and bass. Joanne loved her rides through the countryside. Most of all, Joanne loved being with her loving family and especially enjoyed watching her grandchildren.
She is survived by her husband of 50 years, Lee; children, David (Brenda) Dworak and their children, Brian and Matthew; Keith (special friend, Mary Peters) Dworak; Jon (Lynda) Dworak and their children, Dalten, Danielle and Dustin; Patti (Kevin) Mercier and their children, Phil, Joe, Kayla and Brad; brother, Robert (Judy) Van Den Plas; brothers-in-law, Robert (Delores) Dworak and Jim (Shirley) Lipsky; close friend and relative, Nancy Heurkens and Cheryl Davister; and many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by an infant son, Allen;brothers, Raymond, Albert Jr. and Milton; infant sister, Gloria; brother-in-law, Gary; and close friend, Herman Heurkens.
Friends may call at the Proko-Wall Funeral Home, 1630 E. Mason St., on Monday from 3 to 8 p.m. Visitation will continue on Tuesday at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church, 435 Wisconsin Ave. Denmark, after 9 a.m. until the time of service. Funeral service 10 a.m. Tuesday at the church with Pastor Ralph Hankermeyer officiating. Entombment at Nicolet Memorial Gardens. In lieu of other expressions of sympathy, a memorial fund is being established.
