Ronald E. Whiffen, 73, Green Bay resident, died unexpectedly as the result of an automobile accident on Wednesday, August 26, 2009. He was born on Dec. 8, 1935 in Mountain, WI to the late George and Marion (Wilson) Whiffen. Ron was a graduate of Suring High School. He served in the U.S. Navy for four years from 1956-60 on the USS Barry DD933. On Oct. 19, 1957 he married Audrey Giese in Suring, WI. Ron worked for the Green Bay School District for 13 years before his retirement. He also worked as a meat cutter in Green Bay. Ron was an avid hunter, bowler and golfer. Survivors include his wife Audrey, Green Bay; his children, Scott (Julie) Whiffen, Denmark; Brad (Kristy) Whiffen, Champlin, MN; grandsons, Hayden and Dalton Whiffen; one sister, Shirley (Bill) Rushford, Marquette, MI. He is also survived by sisters-in-law: Louise Luedeman, Portage, WI; Susan (Gene) Eisner, Oneida; Roberta (Randy) Letkiewicz, Germantown; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Steve (Ruth) Giese; nieces and nephews In addition to his parents Ron was preceded in death by his brother, Dennis Whiffen; brother-in-law, Don Luedeman; his mother-in-law and father-in-law; and one niece, Laura Luedeman. Friends may call on Saturday, Aug. 29, 2009 at First United Methodist Church, 501 Howe St., from 10 a.m. until the time of service. Funeral service 12 Noon Saturday at the church with Rev. Paul Johnsen officiating. Burial will be at Nicolet Memorial Gardens. Proko-Wall Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
