Paul J. LaBonte, 79, of Hobart, was welcomed into the joy of his Father’s home on August 10, 2010. He was born on March 30, 1931 to the late Anna and Willard “Bill” LaBonte in Calumet, Michigan. Faith, family and friends were most important to Paul. Beginning in elementary school, Paul was a proud Altar Server at Cathedral Catholic Church which continued throughout his school years at Catholic Central. He joined the United States Navy in 1951 serving on the aircraft carrier USS Cabot. Paul was honorable discharged and on June 12, 1954 he married Judy Olejniczak at St. Mary of the Angels Catholic Church. He worked at Hudson Sharp, Milprint, Brown Packaging, was an owner of Sunrise Packaging and most recently LaBonte and Associates LLC. He expressed his faith as well through a dedication to our Blessed Mother Mary by a daily devotion of praying the Rosary. Paul’s love and commitment to his family was revealed by his generosity and hospitality as he shared his home by hosting many family gatherings. Paul’s direct and no excuse personality showed as he expressed words of encouragement to his children and grandchildren of his expectations to always strive to do their best. As an avid golfer and long time member of Northbrook County Club, his family and many friends will recall him never refusing a challenging game of golf. Stating that if Paul said “no” to golf - he didn’t understand the question. He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Judy; his children: Tom (Donna) LaBonte, Green Bay, Dianne (Tom) Piller, Green Bay, Kathy (Dan) DeCaster, Bonduel, Tim (Becky) LaBonte, Prior Lake, MN; nine grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; sister Barbara (Lee) Kass; sister-in-law Tina Seifert; brothers-in-law Richard (Betty) Olen and Larry (Judy) Olejniczak; and numerous nieces and nephews.
