Michael J. Connelly, 62, Green Bay, passed away peacefully at his home on August 8, 2010 after a courageous battle with cancer with his loving family at his side. Mike was born on November 25, 1947 in Green Bay to Ward and Beatrice (Champeau) Connelly. He was a graduate of Green Bay East High School. On August 10, 1968 he married the former Bernadette Stangel at the old St. Joseph Catholic Church in De Pere. He was self employed as owner of Connelly Excavating. He loved spending time with his family and friends. He loved the outdoors, especially camping, hunting and fishing. Mike additionally loved dancing and was an accomplished ballroom dancer. Mike was loved dearly by his family and his many friends. He was a kind man, had a big heart and was always willing to help anyone in need. He was very outgoing, had a great sense of humor and was quick with a smile. He will be sadly missed by his loving wife of 23 years, Bernadette, 6 children; Suzanne (Kevin) Cayce-Dunham, Wrightstown, Patrick (Lana) Connelly, Freedom, Jeffrey (Julie) Connelly, LaCrosse, Jennifer (Scott) Wilson, Lisa (Tate) Ahrens and Michelle Connelly, all Green Bay, 23 grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren, father Ward Connelly, one brother and 4 sisters; Connie (Ron) Tillman, Jim (Barb) Connelly, Terry (Al) Flores, Amy (Dave) Wilinski and Kim (Cory) Goral as well as many nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his mother Beatrice, 2 brothers Patrick and Tom Connelly, brother-in-law Gary Nelson and nephew Rick Nelson. Friends may call at Proko-Wall Funeral Home, 1630 East Mason on Wednesday from 4-8 pm. Parish Prayer Service at 7:30 pm at the funeral home. Visitation will continue on Thursday from 10:00 to 11:00 am at church. Mass of Christian Burial at St. Philip the Apostle Catholic Church, 312 Victoria Street on Thursday at 11:00 am.
