Diane J. Yancey, 69, Pilsen, loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, was called home on July 22, 2009. Diane was born in Sheboygan on April 1, 1940 to the late Edgar and Helen (Thiel) Mercier. On June 13, 1959, Diane married Robert Yancey and they recently celebrated fifty years of marriage.
An avid gardener, Diane had a truly awesome perennial garden and loved to experiment with different flowers and color combinations from year to year. Diane was talented at knitting, crocheting, needle work, sewing and cooking. Skills she attempted, with varying levels of success, to pass on to her two daughters. There was a special spot in Diane’s heart for animals and in fact no stray was ever turned away from Diane’s door.
Diane is survived by her husband, Bob; two daughters, Wendy ( Mike) Gilley and Kristel (Ray) Hawley; four grandchildren, Kalyn (Seth) Stephens, Cole Ward, Amanda Hawley and Shannon Hawley; one great-grandson, Emmanuel Havens; brother, Wayne (Ruth) Mercier; brother-in-law, Russell (Doris) Yancey; and many other relatives and friends.
Friends may call at SS Cyril and Methodius Faith Community Chapel, corner of Hwy. 29 and Cty. T in the town of Poland, WI, on Saturday, August 1, 2009 from 1 to 3 p.m. Memorial Service to be held at 3 p.m. at the chapel with Rev. David Hatch officiating. The Yancey family would like to extend their gratitude to Unity Hospice, Dr. David Groteluschen, Kristen Rodeheaver, Dr. Pam Vanderall and the medical staff at Green Bay Oncology and St. Vincent Radiation Oncology for their attentive care.
The family extends a special thank you to Pastor David Hatch for his caring and support.
In lieu of flowers, Diane would appreciate your donation to MidWest Dachshund Rescue (www.mwdr.org).
