Virginia Marie (Ginny) Overly, 89, Green Bay, died suddenly Tuesday evening, July 20, 2010 at her home. She was born on Dec. 9, 1920 at Bellin Hospital, Green Bay, to the late Walter and Helen (Planert) Utnehmer. She attended school in Green Bay and graduated from East High School in 1938. Later she attended the College of William and Mary in Newport, Virginia. In 1942 she married the late James Overly.
Virginia is survived by her sister Jean Austad, and her sons James (Susan) and Robert (Mettja). Also surviving are her loving Grandsons James and his friend Linda, and Derek (Kathy), along with three Great-Grandchildren Brendon, Luke and Sawyer. She was preceded in death by her infant daughter Susan, her brother Wallace Utnehmer and her brother Robert Utnehmer.
Virginia retired from her position of Executive Secretary to the CEO of Northwestern National Insurance Co., Milwaukee in 1985 after which she moved back to her home in Green Bay. Ginny was proud of her membership in the Women’s Service League and enjoyed being outdoors and gardening in her yard, but her biggest pleasure came from playing with her Grandsons and later her Great Grandchildren.
Friends may call at Grace Lutheran Church, 321 S. Madison Street, on Monday morning, July 26 from 9:00-11:30 a.m. Funeral Service 11:30 a.m. at the church with Pastor Julie Wrubbel-Lange officiating. Burial in Woodlawn Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers a memorial fund in Virginia’s name will be established.
