Harold H. “Mike” Matzke, 88, Green Bay, loving husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather, died peacefully, Wednesday morning, July 14, 2010 with his loving family at his side. He was born on October 27, 1921 in Green Bay to the late Earl and Anna (Scray) Matzke. On June 29, 1946, he married the former Patricia Van Beek at St. Philip the Apostle Catholic Church in Green Bay. Mike served in the U.S. Army during WWII stationed in the Aleutian Islands and was a member of the VFW Post 9677. He was a member of St. Philip the Apostle Catholic Church. Mike enjoyed cross country road trips with his wife, relatives and friends. He had a special relationship with each of his brothers and sisters and found great joy in sharing his many life stories with his grandchildren and great grandchildren. Mike also enjoyed his circle of card playing friends.

He is survived by his loving wife of 64 years, Patricia, Green Bay; children, Wayne (Mary) Matzke, Fond du Lac, and their children, Gregory (Dawn), Mary Jo (Joe) Wiemiller and Eric (Elizabeth); Randall (Pamela) Matzke, Bellevue, and their children, Alaina (fiancé, Mike), Tom and Kelly; Sharon (Gary) Rentmeester, Bellevue, and their children, Scott (Amanda), Laura (Adam) Ropson, Michael (fiancé, Rachel) and Mathew; brother, Russell Matzke, De Pere; brothers-in-law, Sylvester Jankowski, Donald Lipp, Robert Brosig and Donald Gazella; sister-in-law, Dorothy Matzke; brother-in-law, Arnold (Barbara) Van Beek, Clarence Nooyen; sisters-in-law, Dorothy Van Bellinger and Geraldine Gauthier; and many nieces, nephews and friends.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Merle, Donald, Robert and Jerome; sisters, Erna Brosig, Betty Corrigan, Shirley Jankowski, Eunice Gazella and Mary Lou Randall.

Friends may call at the Proko-Wall Funeral Home, 1630 E. Mason St., on Sunday from 4 to 7 p.m. VFW Post 9677 Service 6:45 p.m. Parish wake service 7 p.m. Visitation will continue on Monday after 9 a.m. at St. Philip the Apostle Catholic Church until the time of service. Mass of Christian Burial 10:30 a.m. at the church with Rev. David Pleier officiating. Entombment in Allouez Chapel Mausoleum. Online condolences may be sent to the Matzke family at www.prokowall.com
