Walter M. Edges, 86, of Green Bay, passed away Saturday, July 10, 2010. He was born on October 12, 1923 in Green Bay to the late Joseph and Anna (Schoenauer) Edges. Walter attended East High School and prior to graduation left school to serve his country in the Army Air Corps. during WWII and Stateside during the Korean War. Walter was a wealth of knowledge and could fix almost anything. He was always willing to lend a hand. In 2001 he was awarded his high school diploma. On July 3, 1946 he married Eleanor Georgia at SS Peter & Paul Catholic Church. The couple celebrated 60yrs. of marriage in 2006. Eleanor preceded him in death on May 22, 2007. Walter was employed by Procter & Gamble for 40 years until his retirement in 1986. He enjoyed deer hunting with his son. Survivors include his daughters Cheryl (Mike) Harrison and Denise (Dan) Fiala, both of Green Bay; seven grandchildren, Marsha (Andy) Loritz, Stacey (Andy) Deer, Green Bay, Wesley Edges, Kunesh, Jodi (Darren) Vandehei, Oneida; Matthew (Bridget) Harrison, N.C., Nick Harrison, Green Bay, and Daniel Fiala, Green Bay; six great-grandchildren; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Marilyn (Richard) DeKeyser, Norman (Eleanor) Georgia, Agatha Georgia, Donald (Elaine) Georgia, Sr., and Alton (Nancy) Georgia; numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, a son Darrell J. Edges, six brothers, Edward Edges, Nicholas (Irene) Edges, Arthur (Florence) Edges, John Edges, Lawrence Edges, and Albert (Irene) Edges; five sisters, Ethel (Gordon) Reno, Agnes Edges, Clara (Malcolm) Turriff, Arlene (Harold) Nelsen, and Dorothy (John) Kaye; He is also preceded in death by a sister-in-law and brothers-in-law, Dorothy (Raymond) Stroobants and Earl Georgia. Friends may call at Proko-Wall Funeral Home, 1630 E. Mason St. from 4:30-8pm Wednesday and after 9am Thursday at the funeral home until the funeral cortege leaves for church. Rosary service 8pm Wednesday at the funeral home. Mass of Christian Burial 10:30am Thursday at SS Peter & Paul Catholic Church, 710 N. Baird St. with Canon Andreas Hellmann of St. Joseph’s Oratory - Instiutute of Christ the King Sovereign Priest. Entombment in the Allouez Catholic Chapel Mausoleum.
