Anton "Tony" Blohowiak

Anton J. "Tony" Blohowiak, 96, passed away on July 3, 2008. He was born June 12, 1912 in the town of Eaton to the late Stanley and Victoria (Kusch) Blohowiak. Tony worked as a construction supervisor with George M. Hougard & Sons. He worked on many major projects such as City Stadium (Lambeau Field), bridges, hospitals, and Green Bay´s Main Library. He was very proud of being part of the history of City Stadium. He knew Vince Lombardi personally, and Vince´s son worked for Anton. Anton served in the U.S. Army Air Force from 1941-1946, serving with the Flying Tigers in Kunming China. He earned numerous medals, including the Bronze Star for his military service. One of his favorite quotes was "Ding Ho" which in Chinese means "You are the Best". On Aug. 30, 1947 he married Jean Offermann at St. Philip the Apostle Church Catholic Church. Anton was a member of St. Philip the Apostle Church and a member of the Athletic Club, Usher Club and Holy Name Society.

Survivors include his wife Jean; one daughter Nancy Charlier, Green Bay; one son Terry (Gail) Blohowiak, Oneida; four grandchildren: Matthew (Jana Schilmoeller) Blohowiak, Eau Claire; Carrie Blohowiak, Door County; Paul Charlier, Green Bay; and Vickie Charlier (special friend Dustin Phalin), Appleton; two great grandchildren: Anna Blohowiak and Ellie Blohowiak. He is also survived by his sister Justine Georgia; brother-in-law Robert Offermann; and sisters-in-law Arvilla Blohowiak, Eleanor (Blohowiak) Bins, Jewel Offermann. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, and cousins.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his siblings: Ed Blohowiak, Frank Blohowiak, Andy Blohowiak, Al Blohowiak, Stella Naniot, Marie Blohowiak, Betty Benz and Ruth Blohowiak.

Friends may call at Proko-Wall Funeral Home, 1630 East Mason Street on Monday from 4-8 pm. Parish Prayer service at the funeral home at 7:00 pm. Visitation will continue at St. Philip the Apostle Catholic Church, 312 Victoria Street on Tuesday July 8, 2008 from 10:00-11:00 am. Mass of Christian Burial at the church on Tuesday at 11:00 am with the Rev. Larry Canavera officiating. Entombment at the Shrine of the Good Shepherd at Nicolet Memorial Gardens.
