James L. Geniesse, 79, Green Bay resident, died on Saturday, June 28, 2008, at an area hospital surrounded by his wife and children. He was born June 18, 1929, in Green Bay to the late Oswald and Josephine "Toots" (Garot) Geniesse. On June 17, 1961, Jim married Mary M. Schmitz in Madison. Jim was a member of Local 298 Steamfitters for many years, retiring in 1984. He was a good husband and father, who always held family first. He loved hunting fishing, boating and animals. In his younger years he raced boats and cars. He was also involved at SS. Peter and Paul Parish and its organizations. Survivors include his wife Mary; his six children and their families: Patrick and Sue Geniesse and their children, Rachel and Maria; Paul and Nancy Geniesse; Michael and Cheri Geniesse and their children, Nicholas, Mitchell, Elaine, Jameson; Anne Beck and her children Megan and Julia; Peter and Joan Geniesse and their children, Greg, William, Jon; Robert and Lori Geniesse and their children Alexa and Maia. He is also survived by his brother Teddy (Marilyn) Wigman; two sisters-in-law Anne Mann and Mary Louise Schmitz. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his stepfather Theodore Wigman; his parents-in-law Dr. William and Margaret Schmitz; and two brothers-in-law Bill Schmitz and John Schmitz. Friends may call at Proko-Wall Funeral Home, 1630 E. Mason St. on Wednesday from 4 to 8 p.m. Parish Wake Service 7 p.m. Visitation will continue on Thursday at SS. Peter and Paul Church, 710 N. Baird St. from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 a.m. at the church with Rev. Harry Hafemann officiating. Entombment in the Shrine of the Good Shepherd Mausoleum.
