He inspired his children and grandchildren to follow their dreams and believe that all things are possible. Rich was the "rock" of stability in the foundation of the family circle. Richard´s door was open to everyone, and he possessed a rare gift for making others feel special.
Richard, the youngest of twelve children, was a Renaissance Man who loved to collect antiques, to tell stories, paint, sculpt, refinish furniture and host dinner parties with his creative cooking. He was an avid gardener who was known to all of his neighbors as the "Tomato King." He also spent much time in the North woods hunting and fishing. He was an intense athletic competitor who starred at both Park Falls High School and Carroll College in football and basketball. Richard was a lifelong fan of the Packers, Brewers and Bucks. He supported charitable institutions such as the American Cancer Society´s "Relay for Life" and was a member of the Park Falls Lion´s Club for many years. Rich was a veteran of the Army who proudly served his country.
Richard and Carolyn shared an adventurous spirit for life during their marriage, creating both home and community in Park Falls, WI; Lompoc, CA; Las Vegas, NV; Cudahy, WI and Seymour, WI. They enjoyed many driving tours throughout the US and Mexico and spent much of their retirement traveling around the country in a recreational vehicle. Numerous international cruises brought joy to both during the past several years.
Richard passed away peacefully at home among family after a courageous battle against pancreatic cancer. The Larson family wishes to offer a special thanks to all of the health care workers on the 9th floor of St. Vincent´s Hospital in Green Bay; and to Unity Hospice for their devoted and tender care of Richard and his family.
