Margaret Ann Olson (nee Erlei) born May 10, 1918 to Alta and Henry Erlei in Abbotsford, Wisconsin passed away on June 11, 2008 in Bloomington, Minnesota after a brief illness.
Margaret grew up in Dorchester and moved to Green Bay in 1941 where she worked for Montgomery Ward. She married the love of her life, Marcus Andrew Olson, on January 14, 1953. They had daughters M. Andrea and Karen Marie.
Margaret was a musician with a beautiful voice and she sang in many choirs including the Kraft Chorus, the University of Wisconsin Choir and the SS. Peter and Paul Church Adult Choir. She also entertained with her concertina and piano playing. She was a member of the Audubon Society, Green Bay Bird Club and was a Junior Audubon leader, and was delighted to work for Downey Animal Hospital for many years. She was an avid writer who wrote many pieces about her life experiences. She volunteered at the Bay Beach Wildlife Sanctuary fulfilling her passion for the beauty of God´s gift of animals and nature. She loved living on the shore of Green Bay, and had fond memories of our many years there. A long-time member of SS. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Green Bay, she joined Nativity of Our Lord Catholic Church in Saint Paul after moving to Minnesota.
Margaret´s spirit was full of joy for all that life held, and she was a mentor to many because of her strong faith, courage and strength of character.
She was preceded in death by beloved husband Mark, her parents and brother Leon, and beautiful daughter, Andrea. Survivors include daughter Karen Reynolds and her husband Scott and his family, Pat and Dale Reynolds, Kathie and Rick Brisson, Brandon Reynolds, Ann Marie and Scott Phippen and their children Jack and Samantha; very special niece Lynn Friedrich of Plainfield, Illinois and other dear relatives and friends.
A memorial mass will be held at Nativity of Our Lord Church in Saint Paul on Wednesday June 18 at 11:00 with visitation one hour prior. A memorial service will take place at the Fort Howard Cemetery Chapel in Green Bay on Friday, June 20, 2008 at 1:00 p.m. with Rev. Ralph Merkatoris officiating. Burial to follow. Friends and family may gather from 12:30 p.m. until the time of services Friday at the cemetery chapel. Proko-Wall Funeral Home is assisting the family with local arrangements.
