Julie A. Nooyen, 36, Green Bay resident, died early Friday morning June 6, 2008 at a local hospital, following a lengthy illness. She was born January 23, 1972 in Green Bay to Robert and Kathy (Hendricks) Nooyen. Julie graduated from Holy Cross grade school in 1987 and Preble High School in 1991. She then attended classes at NWTC receiving her diploma.

Julie was a childcare specialist in the Green Bay area and continued her employment at Humana until her illness wouldn´t allow. She was an active volunteer at N.E.W. Curative and enjoyed helping the Older Americans Group. Julie´s specialty was a "back rub" for those she cared for and loved. Throughout Julie´s illness she maintained her faith and positive attitude. She never complained and always seemed to be more concerned about others. Julie´s selflessness was an inspiration to everyone she knew.

She is survived by Dave Kugel, her fiancée and caregiver for many years; one sister, Jodi Nooyen-Lester and her husband Robin Lester, Jersey City, NJ; one brother, Tyler and Heather Nooyen, Amherst, WI.; niece and godchild, Kate Lester, and niece Samantha Nooyen; one nephew Andrew Julian Lester; Dave´s parent´s Jerry Kugel and his companion Sally; Mary (Cherovsky) Kugel, Green Bay; one brother-in-law Corby Kugel, Savanna, GA; and two special caregivers, Kathy Cherovsky and Lily Capelle.

Friends may call at Proko-Wall Funeral Home, 1630 E. Mason St. on Sunday from 3 to 8 p.m. Visitation will continue on Monday at Holy Cross Catholic Church from 9:00 a.m. until the time of Mass. Mass of Christian Burial 10:30 a.m. at the church with Fr. Tim Shillcox, O.Praem. officiating. Burial in the church cemetery.
