Gary W. Libal, 76, Green Bay resident, died Thursday June 5, 2008 at a local hospital following a brief courageous battle with cancer. He was born March 21, 1932 in Green Bay to the late Gerhardt and Audrey (Resler) Libal. Gary served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean Conflict. He married Shirley Helgerson on April 4, 1959 in Green Bay. Gary was employed by Nabisco for 38 years retiring in 1994. Gary especially enjoyed his cabin in Silver Cliff which he shared with his son Craig, where they enjoyed hunting fishing and being in the woods with nature.
He was a gardener and enjoyed his retirement in Sarasota.
He is survived by his wife Shirley; son Craig Libal, Green Bay; and daughter Tamara Botkin, Roswell, GA; one granddaughter Amanda Botkin; and one great grandson, Gavin. He is also survived by one brother, Keith Libal and his fiancée Sandy, Sarasota, FL; two brothers-in-law and three sisters-in-law: Roger (Kay) Helgerson, Port Charlotte, FL; Ron (Joan) Helgerson, Menominee, MI; Nanci Helgerson, DePere; nieces and nephews.
Friends may call at the Proko-Wall Funeral Home, 1630 E. Mason St. after 2 p.m. Sunday until the time of service. Funeral Service 6 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home with Rev. Karen Helgerson and Rev. Ron Helgerson officiating. Burial in Silver Cliff Cemetery. Online condolences may be sent to the Libal family at www.prokowall.com. In lieu of other expressions of sympathy a memorial fund has been established in his name.
