David R. Gay, 73, Green Bay resident passed away peacefully, surrounded by his family at a local hospital on Thursday, May 15, 2008. He was born Jan. 12, 1935 to the late Louis and Angeline (Krautkramer) Gay. He was a Veteran of the U.S. Coast Guard. On Nov. 13, 1956 he married Lorraine Nesvacil. She preceded him in death Aug. 26, 2005. He then married Dorothy (Zingler) Herlache Sept. 20, 2006. He was employed at the James River Corporation for 40 years, retiring in 1993. Dave like to hunt and fish at the cottage in Clam Lake. He also enjoyed bowling and playing cards with his family and his new family. Dave will be remembered for his strong faith and for passing out the F.R.O.G. (Forever Relying on God); and for saying "the first thing you do in the morning is smile."
Survivors include his wife Dorothy; his six children: Randy (Kerry) Gay; Jeff (Mary) Gay; Todd (Ann) Gay; Timm (Tammy) Gay; Scott (Kate) Gay, Jeremy (Rebecca) Keyser, all of Green Bay; six grandchildren and one great grandchild; stepchildren: Tom (Marianne) Herlache; Jim (Beth) Herlache; Debbie (Al) Sullivan; Lee Herlache; Vicky (Steve) Daul; Jeffrey Herlache; Lori (Bruce) Helnore; Michael (Connie) Herlache; Tina (Mike) Corpus; Stephanie Evenson; Jenny Herlache; foster stepdaughter Jackie Schneider; 27 step grandchildren; 6 step great grandchildren. He is also survived by two brothers George (Judy) Gay, South Carolina; Jerry (Claudia) Gay, Arizona; one brother-in-law Quinton "Bunny" Bonjean, Green Bay and two brothers-in-law William Zingler and Robert Zingler.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his first wife, Lorraine; his daughter and son-in-law, Cindy Gay-Keyser and Joseph Keyser; his sister, Lois Bonjean and his brother-in-law Ken Zingler.
Friends may call on Saturday from 8:30 to 10:30a.m. at St. Philip the Apostle Catholic Church, 312 Victoria Street. Mass of Christian Burial 10:30 a.m. with Rev. Dave Pleier officiating.
