Norris "Norry" Van Beek, 86, Green Bay, died on May 14, 2008. He was born on March 15, 1922 to the late Jack and Anna (Nockerts) Van Beek. Norris served during World War II on the USS Mojave. He ran and operated Van Beek´s Bar for many years. He retired from Procter and Gamble in 1983. After his retirement he spent much of his time at his cottage on the Bay. He was a lifetime member of the VFW Winiecki Post 9677 in Bellevue. He was a Commander of the Post for many years. Norris restored the Potter´s Field on Highway 57, with the help of the VFW members.
Survivors include his wife, Ruth; four children and one step-son, Bonnie (Roger) Jolly, Tim (Jeannine) Van Beek, John Van Beek, and Amy Van Beek; Terry Wirtz, Arizona; seven grandchildren: Brett, Scott, William, Katherine, Lindsey, Ben, and Josie; four step-grandchildren and six step-great-grandchildren; one sister, June Irish; one niece, two nephews, cousins and friends.
He was preceded in death by one brother and one sister.
Friends may call at Proko-Wall Funeral Home, 1630 E. Mason St. on Sunday from 4 to 8 p.m. VFW Post 9677 Memorial Service 6:30 p.m.; Parish Wake Service 7 p.m. at the funeral home. Visitation will continue on Monday from 9:30 to 10:30 at St. Mary of the Angels, 645 S. Irwin Avenue. Mass of Christian Burial 10:30 a.m. at the church with Fr. Tom Wojciechowski, O.F.M. officiating. Burial in Allouez Catholic Cemetery.
