Eugene Edwin Rameker, 71, Ledgeview, passed away peacefully at home on April 4, 2008, surrounded by his family. He was born in Manitowoc on February 10, 1937, to the late Victor and Rose (Chvala) Rameker. He married Marian Patek at St. Hedwig´s Catholic Church in West Kewaunee on May 20, 1961. Gene graduated from Reedsville High School and UW-Platteville. He served in the United States Army and the National Guard Reserve. He worked for Kewaunee County as a 4-H agent, Wisconsin Public Service, Gustave A. Larson Company, and was Vice President, Sales Manager, and partner of Foxland Harvestore, Inc. in Little Chute for 25 years. Gene was a long-time member of the Denmark Knights of Columbus and served as Grand Knight and District Deputy for several years. He was active for many years in St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church, where he was lector, communion distributor, and confirmation class teacher. He served on the Town of Ledgeview Zoning Commission. Gene enjoyed spending time with family, especially his grandchildren, who were his pride and joy. He also enjoyed hunting, traveling, reading, and sports. Survivors include his wife, Marian; four children, Bruce Rameker, New York City; James (Michelle) Rameker, Madison; Laura (Glenn) Ruskaup, Madison; Robin (Heather) Rameker, Waukesha; and three grandchildren, Isabel, Elijah, and Samuel Rameker, as well as an expected grandchild in the fall. He is further survived by three siblings, Paul (Nancy) Rameker, Fond du Lac; Victor (Corinna) Rameker, Sparks, NV; Karen (Joe) Des Jarlais, Menasha; two aunts, Carol Chvala, Sedona, AZ; Beverly (Daniel) Skaletski, Denmark; mother-in-law, Laura Krines, Kewaunee; brother-in-law, Eugene (Shirley) Patek, Casco, as well as eleven nieces and nephews and several godchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Victor and Rose Rameker, fathers-in-law, Henry Patek and Matt Krines. Friends may call at Proko-Wall Funeral Home, 1630 E. Mason St. from 4-8pm on Tuesday, April 8, 2008. Knights of Columbus and Parish wake service 7:30pm at the funeral home. Visitation will continue on Wednesday from 9:30-10:30am at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church, 220 S. Michigan St.,DePere. Mass of Christian Burial 10:30am at the church with the Rev. Jack Harper officiating. Burial in Allouez Catholic Cemetery. Online condolences may be sent to the Rameker family at www.prokowall.com.
