Harold J. Rentmeester, 81 of Bellevue passed away April 1, 2009. He was born July 3, 1927 to the late Albert and Mary (Boehm) Rentmeester. He married Florence Huben on Feb. 18, 1950. He and Florence owned and operated Beverly Gardens for 31 years. Harold loved golfing, bowling, dancing to polka bands and good times. He especially enjoyed spending time with his family, grandchildren, and watching the little great grandchildren play. Harold was a very faithful Catholic and prayed the rosary almost daily for the welfare of family and friends. He occasionally served Mass for Fr. Ralph Merkatoris.
Survivors include his wife, Florence; two sons and a daughter: Michael (Arlene) Rentmeester, Daniel (Susan) Rentmeester, and Mary (Kelly) Miller; six grandchildren: Molly (Dean) Delsart, Mark (Jennifer) Rentmeester, Jessica (Wade) Schmechel, Justin â€œJJâ€ (Amber Massart) Rentmeester, Jennifer and Sam Miller; ten great grandchildren; two sisters, Lavern Hermans, Lucille Vandenbush; one brother Joe and Marge Boehm; sisters-in-law Margaret Rentmeester; Mary VanEnkevort; brothers-in-law, Bob Huben, George Ambrosius and Merle Knaus; many nieces, nephews, and all of his buddies at Wander Springs Golf Course. He was preceded in death by his stepmother Vera Rentmeester; stepsister Katherine (Bill) DeGrave; brothers and sisters: Tony Rentmeester, Lawrence (Helen) Rentmeester, Wilbert (Elaine) Rentmeester, Rueben (Armella) Rentmeester, Sister Mary Albert (Emma), Doris (Ralph) Vandenbush; brothers-in-law: Bill Vandenplas, Clem Vandenbush, Gouldie Hermans, Clayton VanEnkevort; sisters-in-law: Patsy Knaus, and Doris Mae Ambrosius. He is also preceded in death by special friends Gordy Mleziva and Bob Phillips.
Friends may call at Proko-Wall Funeral Home, 1630 E. Mason St. on Sunday from 4 to 8 p.m. Parish Wake Service 7:30 p.m. at the funeral home with Deacon Bill Burkel officiating. There will be no visitation at the church on Monday prior to the funeral. Mass of Christian Burial 10:30 a.m. Monday at Prince of Peace, 3425 Willow Road, with Rev. Ron Belitz officiating.
