Carol M. Gilsoul, 92, Green Bay resident, died peacefully Tuesday evening, February 23, 2010 at a local care facility. She has now gone to be with her God, Husband and Son. Carol was born on Oct. 3, 1917 in Green Bay. She was was adopted by her parents Basil and Ida DeJardin from New Franken and then later moved to Green Bay. She married Carl Gilsoul on March 8, 1933 in Green Bay at Ss Peter and Paul Catholic Church. Carl preceded her in death on Aug. 13, 1994. Carol and Carl had celebrated 60 years of marriage, before Carl’s death, at St. Francis Xavier Cathedral where their late son Rev. James Gilsoul, an ordained priest, celebrated their mass. She loved to crochet, embroidery, write letters and to go fishing. Carol had a cottage at Little Sturgeon for over 20 years. She was a great lover of her garden and her flowers. Above all, Carol truly loved spending time with her family.
Survivors include her children, Robert (Beverly) Gilsoul and Richard Gilsoul; 10 grandchildren, Debbie Surcickowski, Green Bay, Robyn Janelle, Green bay, Laura Rogers, Tigerton, and Richard Gilsoul, Jr., Florida; 10 great grandchildren, 5 great great granddaughter; sister and brother-in-law, Mabel (Earl) Tyree, Racine; sister, Joyce Nielson, North Carolina; brother and sister-in-law, David (Pat) Rannow, Racine; special nephew, Roger Gilsoul; and many other nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
Besides her husband and son, she was preceded was preceded in death by her brother, Raymond Rannow and sister, Dorothy Rannow.
Friends may call at the Proko-Wall Funeral Home, 1630 E. Mason St., on Sunday from 4 to 8 p.m. Parish wake service 7 p.m. Visitation will continue at St. Francis Xavier Cathedral on Monday after 10 a.m. until the time of service. Mass of Christian Burial 11 a.m. with Rev. Jerry Pastors officiating. Entombment at Allouez Chapel Mausoleum. Online condolences may be sent to Carol’s family at www.prokowall.com.
In lieu of other expressions of sympathy, a memorial fund is being established.
