Jean Ann Farrell, age 77, passed away on Friday, Feb. 8, 2008. She was born on July 22, 1930, daughter of Hilary and Marcella (Zeise) Van Beek. Jean married Tom Farrell on June 13, 1957. He preceded her in death on March 30, 2005. Jean graduated from East High School in June 1947. She started work at Kellogg (now Associated) Bank in 1954 and worked there for 37 years until her retirement in 1991. She rose through the ranks until she was appointed Vice-President of Associated Bank. She was the first woman North of Milwaukee to be appointed Vice-President of a bank. Jean was very community oriented. Some of her involvement included, Member of the Finance Committee of the Neville Public Museum. She was also Treasurer of the Scholarship Inc. of Gannett Newspapers. She was also very involved with the YWCA. She was chairman of the Finance Committee, Advisory Committee, Investment Management Committee, Chairman of the Personnel Committee and was also a member of the "Women of Vision" Committee. Jean also served on the Finance and Planning Committee at St. Bernard Catholic Church. She was also a Corporation Member of the Curative Workshop and Chairman of the Memorial Gifts of the Heart Association. She was Publicity Chairman of the Badger State Group, NABW, National Association of Bank Women. Jean is survived by her son, John (Susan) Farrell, Minneapolis, MN; one grandson, Shane Patrick; one sister, Beverly Van Beek; a special aunt, "Mugsie" Cygan; a sister-in-law, Audrey Van Beek; a niece, Lisa Michaels, Lisa´s son, Patrick Maraka. She is also survived by cousins, Michael Cygan, James Cygan and Dianne Tarrence; and a very special friend, Ruth Mettner. Besides her parents and dear husband, she was also preceded in death by a brother, Patrick Van Beek and a special uncle, Harry Cygan. Friends may call at St. Bernard Church, 2040 Hillside Lane, on Tuesday, February 19, from 10:30 to 11:00 a.m. A Memorial Mass will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. at the church with Rev.
