Mabel C. Greatens, 86, Green Bay resident, died Sun., Feb. 3, 2008 at a local hospital. She was born June 3, 1921 in Green Bay to the late Henry and Kate (Vohen) Vander Kelen. On Oct. 3, 1939 she married Clarence Greatens at Holy Martyrs Church. He preceded her in death on March 31, 1997. Mabel worked for 21 years at Eillien´s Candies, retiring in 1981. Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Pat and Tom Basten, Green Bay; daughter-in-law, Karen Greatens, Green Bay; nine grandchildren and their families: Scott Greatens; Keith and Barb Greatens, Elizabeth, Katherine, Alexandra; Kathy Greatens (fiancé Rob Mc Elmurry) and Brendan; Pam and Kip Mc Coy; Todd and Lori Basten, Brittany and Brandon; Tim and Nancy Basten, Tyler, Travis, Troy; Dale and Kim Basten, Joshua, Caleb, Elizabeth, Olivia; Dean and Kim Basten, Zach, Tanner, Mackenzie; Dawn and Jason Goddard, Bennett, Brady, Andersen. She is also survived by her sister, Emily Rueckl, Green Bay; her brother, Hank Vander Kelen, Green Bay; her sister-in-law, Leona Landreman, Milwaukee; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Louie and Josephine Greatens, Humboldt; nieces and nephews; two very special friends, Gladys Lamal and Gloria Ledvina. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, her son, Bob; twin sisters, Mary and Marie; and great-grandson Jeremy Basten. Friends may call at Proko-Wall Funeral Home, 1630 E. Mason St. on Tuesday from 4 to 8 p.m. Parish prayer service at 7pm. Visitation will continue on Wednesday from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at St. Bernard Catholic Church, 2040 Hillside Drive. Mass of Christian Burial 10:30 a.m. at the church with Rev. Dave Pleier officiating. Entombment in the Shrine of the Good Shepherd Mausoleum. The family would like to express their deep gratitude to the staffs of Bornemann´s Nursing Home, Aurora BayCare 3rd Floor, Aurora VNA Hospice and Dr. Bachhuber, for the wonderful love and care given to Mabel.
