Harry C. Benjamin, 90, Green Bay resident, died Wednesday January 27, 2010 at his home. He was born February 1, 1919 in Lorraine, New York to the late Carl and Olive (Berry) Benjamin. Harry married the former Gladys Darrow on May 28, 1940 in Watertown, NY. She preceded him in death December 27, 2007. He served in the U.S. Coast Guard for 22 years until 1960. While serving in the Coast Guard he received the American Defense and Good Conduct Service Medals. Harry was also employed by Hansens Painting Service for 18 years until his retirement. He was a member of the VFW, First United Methodist Church, the USCG Chief Petty Officer’s Association, and Masonic Lodge #322. He is survived by two sons Ronald and James Benjamin, both Green Bay; 10 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren; 3 sisters, Ferne Van Epps, Adams, NY; Betty (Roy) Willis, Newburgh, NY; Audrey Morrow, Port Clinton, OH; nieces and nephews He was preceded in death by one daughter, Sherry Gavre and one son, Steve Benjamin; 5 brothers, Ross, Elwyn, Earl, Gordon, and Howard Benjamin. Friends may call at the Proko-Wall Funeral Home, 1630 E. Mason St. on Sunday, after 1 pm until time of service. Funeral Service 3 pm at the funeral home with Rev. Dave Wilkinson officiating.
