Dennis D. Nys 59, Green Bay resident, passed away unexpectedly at his home on Monday evening, January 25, 2010. He was born on Feb. 7, 1950 in Green Bay to the late Winston and Emma (Stroobants) Nys. On August 7, 1982, he married the former Debra Anderson at St. Bernard Catholic Church in Green Bay. Dennis proudly served in the United States Army 173rd Airborne Division during the Vietnam War from 1970-1971 achieving the rank of SGT. He later worked for Georgia Pacific until his recent retirement. Dennis enjoyed his time spent with his many friends at Georgia Pacific and also his buddies from the VA. He was an avid outdoorsman who loved to hunt and fish. His true joys in life, though, were spending time with his family. Dennis will always be remembered for his kindness and generosity. He is survived by his loving wife of 27 years, Debra; son, Andrew; daughter, Michelle; brothers, Fr. Loren Nys SDS and Dane Nys; sisters, Sharon (Joseph) Bangert and Sandy Meyer; mother and father-in-law, Patricia and Harold Anderson; brothers and sisters-in-law; Mark and Darlene Anderson, Therese Tully, Tricia and Scott Schuldes, John and Ann Marie Anderson, and Chris Anderson; many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends, and also his dog, Willie. Friends may call at the Proko-Wall Funeral Home, 1630 E. Mason St., on Thursday from 4 to 8 p.m. Parish wake service 7 p.m. Visitation will continue Friday at St. Bernard Catholic Church from 10:30 a.m. until the time of service. Mass of Christian Burial 12:30 p.m. at the church with Fr. David Pleier officiating and Fr. Loren Nys, SDS concelebrating.
